Texas mom ‘sold’ daughter, 8, for sex
THE East Texas girl was just eight. She was being 'advertised' by her mother in explicit videos as being available for sex. The fee - $A134.
Carrie Songer Kelly - otherwise known as 'Sue' - was arrested earlier this month for sex trafficking and compelling a child younger than 14-years-old into sexual conduct.
The Lone Oak woman, 44, had been haggling with a Nebraska man on internet services MeetMe and KIK last year. Sue had been offering to bring him an 8-year-old child for sex.
Negotiations were switched to direct text messaging via mobile phone. This phone was in the hands of an undercover police officer.
A deal was reached. A date and location was agreed upon.
But, according to police, Sue failed to turn up at the agreed rendezvous in Longview on December 28 last year.
When contacted and asked why she and her daughter hadn't turned up, Sue was apologetic. Police say she said she wanted to complete the transaction. She offered pornographic videos in compensation, and stated she had 'experience' in the sexual abuse of children.
Meanwhile, Nebraska Police had tracked the identity of the woman through civic records and alias identification software.
A woman matching her details had recently been evicted from a house in the small city of White Oak, Texas. She was now in Lone Oak, on the outskirts of Dallas.
In January, police confronted her at the White Oak independent School.
She was asked where her mobile phone was.
Sue replied she had 'lost it'.
But when police called the number, a young girl answered and said she was in the school's lobby.
It was Sue's 8-year-old daughter.
After examining the phone to confirm it belonged to Sue, police discovered she had fled.
Her children were taken into protective care and her 8-year-old daughter interviewed.
Earlier this month, police succeeded in locating two pornographic videos recorded early in January. The officers recognised the young girl in the footage as being Sue's daughter.
Carrie Songer (Sue) Kelly has since been arrested under warrant and detained at the Gregg County jail under a $A270,000 bond.
