Eager tennis players on court at Reg English Tennis Centre

DESPITE being on holiday, 20 keen young tennis players made their way to the Reg English Tennis Centre to test their skills on Monday.

The three day Gympie Junior Tennis Tournament began at Cartwright Rd with the advanced yellow ball competition. The winner was Sean Lorensen and runner up Rachel Chubb.

In orange ball (slower and less bouncy) Jackson Taylor aced his opponent Austin Van Twest to take the win and in red ball (smaller again) the winner Claire Morgan defeated her twin sister Emily to take gold.

Junior players from beginner to advanced level can play in the remaining two day in the competition today and Friday.

All children that attend school coaching and hot shots tennis programs are suited to these events.

The tournament runs from 8.30am until 12.30pm and costs $25 per player for one event including morning tea and lunch.

Entries close 10am on the day before the event.
