Dyer's fit over penalty fails to tarnish Swansea City win

NOT even man-of-the-match Nathan Dyer's tantrum could take the gloss off Swansea winning the first major trophy in the club's 101-year history after a 5-0 hammering of League Two outfit Bradford City in the Capital One Cup final at Wembley.

The winger, who had scored twice for the Premier League club, had to be restrained by teammates after he and Dutch midfielder Jonathan de Guzman had a row over who would take a second-half penalty.

De Guzman insisted on taking it, even though the Swans were already 3-0 up and Bradford's keeper Matt Duke had been sent off in the incident which led to the penalty.

Had Dyer taken it and scored, he would have become the first player to score a hat-trick in the 53-year history of the tournament.

Meanwhile defending Premier League champion Manchester City is now 12 points behind leaders Manchester United in second place after a 2-0 home win against third-placed Chelsea.

Yaya Toure and Carlos Tevez scored the goals after Chelsea's Frank Lampard had his penalty saved by England teammate Joe Hart.

Newcastle came from behind to beat Southampton 4-2 in the other game.
