Dual title for our showgirl Andrea
WINNING the double at last Saturday’s Gympie District Show Ball was Beef Cattle committee entrant Andrea Schulz, who was sashed Miss Showgirl and Miss Charity Showgirl for 2010.
The former Gympie State High student said it was quite a shock to win both titles.
Show society president Graham Engeman said the show ball was very successful with about 200 people attending the function at the Pavilion.
Thanks to an outstanding turnout for the Widgee Working Dog Trials, one of Andrea’s main fundraising events, the 18-year-old managed to raise just over $12,000.
In total, the showgirls raised a little over $20,000, Mr Engeman said, adding it was “a very good sum of money”.
Andrea, who is studying for a double degree at University of Queensland’s Gatton campus, majoring in animal science and animal and plant biosecurity, will now represent Gympie at the Near North Coast Region Sub-Chamber Ball.
The Gympie Show runs from May 13 to 15.
