Drug raid leads to convictions

WHEN detectives executed a drug search on a house at Dolphin Avenue in Tin Can Bay on March 15, Craig Shane McKnight, 44, was charged with producing dangerous drugs, and his housemate, John Joseph Shane Dillon, 44, was charged with possession of dangerous drugs, a utensil used in connection with a dangerous drug and other suspect items. McKnight pleaded guilty to growing five cannabis plants in pots and was sentenced to one month in prison, suspended for nine months.

Dillon pleaded guilty to his charges but told the magistrate he only had three quarters of a gram of marijuana in his possession. He was sentenced to two terms of imprisonment, one for four months and the other for one month. Both were suspended for 12 months. The court heard that both men had long histories of drug offences.
