Drug issue hits court
"IF YOU keep going you'll end up with an ICO (intensive correction order) and jail. You are no stranger to the system," Magistrate Maxine Baldwin told a 21-year-old woman in Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday.
Jasmine Alyscia Radloff, of Stoneleigh St, Lutwyche, pleaded guilty to three counts of stealing, possessing methylamphetamine, possessing a utensil and failing to properly dispose of a needle.
The court heard the stealing took place on January 16 with Coles, Target and a newsagency.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Lisa Manns said drug diversion would not help Radloff who admitted there was a small amount of speed in a bag because she had been on an 11-day bender.
Solicitor for Radloff, Leanne Gordon said her client "does not deny her heavy use of drugs.
"She moved to Gympie to get a fresh start. She's not kept an entirely clean slate since they moved her. Her previous stealing was when she was under the influence of drugs. In 2010 she completed probation.
"If drugs can be controlled then there won't be any more stealing."
Radloff was placed on 18 months' probation on the drugs charges, a further nine months probation for stealing and ordered to pay $11.06 restitution.
