Man charged for 10kg of marijuana in fuel tank out on bail

A GOLD COAST man was bailed yesterday after police found 10kg of marijuana hidden in his vehicle at the weekend.

Ronald Lawrence Sharp, 56, was charged on Friday after officers intercepted his vehicle in Warwick and allegedly found the drugs stashed in a second fuel tank.

The case was adjourned and Sharp will reappear in Warwick Magistrate Court on September 9.

Sharp received bail with residential and reporting conditions.

The 56-year-old man will have to report to a police station three times a week and reside in a particular address on the Gold Coast.

He is currently facing charges of possessing dangerous drugs, supplying dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime and one unrelated charge of assault.

He also received a no-contact order in regards to the charge of occasioning bodily harm while in company.

Sharp was travelling from interstate and was stopped by police after turning off the Cunningham Hwy in Warwick about 5pm

His car was brought to the Warwick Police Station where police allegedly located the marijuana during a search of the vehicle around 7pm.
