Drivers name and shame Coast's five worst roads
SUNSHINE Coast drivers have named and shamed the region's most congested roads and bottlenecks, with the Bruce Highway at pole position.
RACQ's Red Spot Congestion Survey received 2500 nominations from across Queensland, which pinpointed the most "frustrating" locations.
RACQ has called on all levels of government to urgently fix the worst areas identified by locals.
The top-five worst stretches were the Bruce Highway, from Pine River to the Sunshine Coast; Eumundi-Noosa Rd, Grays Rd intersection; Caloundra Rd, specifically the Nicklin Way and Kawana Way roundabouts; single-lane sections of the Sunshine Motorway; and Beckmans Rd, specifically the intersections of Eumundi-Noosa Rd, Saint Andrews Drive and Sea Eagle Drive.
Does the Sunshine Coast have too many congested roads?
This poll ended on 26 May 2019.
Yes, something needs to be done.
I've never had an issue on our roads.
In some areas.
This is not a scientific poll. The results reflect only the opinions of those who chose to participate.
RACQ spokeswoman Lucinda Ross said the "red spots" could be due to a set of traffic lights taking too long to change, not enough lanes, delays at rail crossings and other issues.
The research will be made available to local, state and federal governments, and used by RACQ to help prioritise advocacy work.
