Friends remember 'rough and ready' lad killed in crash
UPDATE 5PM: Deon Auld was a man you could take a chance on.
A keen bullrider with a wicked sense of humour, the beloved Gatton bloke was a friend to many and someone who wouldn't hesitate to help out a mate.
The 23-year-old, with his kind blue eyes and easy smile, was the man his partner chose to take a chance on - a decision she never regretted.
"He was amazing," partner Kelly Sutton said.
"He would do anything for you."
Though the couple had only been together since August, Ms Sutton said Mr Auld quickly became the love of her life and she was shattered at his unexpected death.
Ms Sutton said Mr Auld was a keen bullrider, a "rough and ready" type of man who was always up for anything.
Mr Auld was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Old Toowoomba Rd at Placid Hills on Saturday afternoon.
Initial investigations indicate he'd headed west along the road when the car veered off the road and collided with a tree.
Despite the swift response of emergency services, he died at the scene shortly after the crash about 4pm.
The last time Ms Sutton saw him was the afternoon of the crash.
"All of them," she said when asked of her cherished memories of their time together.
The sentiment mirrors that of mourners on social media who reacted with shock and disbelief to the news of Mr Auld's death.
"Honestly you were a beautiful person and would do anything for anyone," one wrote on Facebook.
"You will be missed by many people," wrote another friend.
Old Toowoomba Rd was closed for hours at the scene.
