Driver arrested after crash near Gympie this morning

BREAKING NEWS: NO INJURIES were reported from a two-vehicle crash on the Bruce Hwy at Cobbs Gully, south of Gympie, this morning.

But one of the drivers was taken into custody on traffic and drug matters, according to Gympie police.

A spokesman said the crash occurred about 8.40am near Woondum Rd.

A male driver, 29, was taken into custody.

The other driver, a male, 69, was uninjured but both cars had to be towed from the scene.

The highway was blocked only briefly while the cars were taken from the scene.

Meanwhile, the spokesman said a man in a stolen car had been taken into custody after attempting to evade police just before noon.

No further details are yet available.
