Draw's a tough one for Tigre

SUNSHINE Coast trainer Jason McLachlan was yesterday lamenting a horror barrier draw for Facile Tigre in Saturday's Group One Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield.

The highly rated five-year-old drew the 16 alley for the $400,000 1100m dash.

"He's a good horse, but he's got to contend with a very bad draw," McLachlan said. "It's a bad draw at Caulfield especially.

"The jockey (Danny Nikolic) has just got to ride him for a bit of luck. He won't be going to the lead. He's just got to get across somewhere and get a position.

"If he gets a bit of luck, he'll be hard to beat."

Facile Tigre is chasing his eighth win in 16 starts, coming off the back of a lengthy layoff.

In his last start, he won the Miss Security Sprint over 1200m at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.

"It's his first run since then, but he's trialled terrific and I'm very happy with him. He's been good as gold," McLachlan said.

"Have a look at his record. He's got a terrific record and he's got a good turn of foot.

"He proved himself during the Spring Carnival. He won on Caulfield Guineas Day too."

McLachlan had a runner in last weekend's Group One CF Orr Stakes, topweight Phelan Ready, who finished seventh behind superstar Black Caviar.

"It was a good run and he ran a very good time, but under the weight-for-age scale ... he carried 58.5kg. He was giving two-and-half kilograms away to champion," McLachlan said.
