Don’t take the drink driving risk
THERE is a time and a place for most things, except impaired driving.
And that can mean hung over or half asleep driving as well as drug or drink driving.
It is just too scary to contemplate the proportion of drivers coming at you who may have had a little too much of the Christmas spirit.
As Gympie Magistrate M Baldwin must grow tired of emphasising, just because you can steer a car and change gear does not mean you are in any fit state to respond quickly to an emergency.
Alcohol may only add a fraction of a second to your response time, but cars travel a long way in that fraction of a second.
And, as she also warns people on drug driving charges, especially if the drug is cannabis, it can hang around in your system, enough to show up in a saliva test, for days.
The police are out there and they will get you.
