Donna's big voice to soar once again
GTA's next big all-singing all-dancing musical at The Phoenix is The Pirate Prince, with Donna Jones playing the take-no-prisoners role of Liza.
Gympie audiences who loved Donna as Morgana in A Knight to Remember, especially when she sang the GTA version of Bohemian Rhapsody, will be happy to know that Donna as Liza will get the opportunity to let her big voice soar once again at The Phoenix.
Donna has been involved with theatre since 1994 and started by going to a GTA casting call for a drawing room farce called The Family Jewels.
Since then Donna has played with The Zodiac Players, Kilkivan Amateur Theatre, Gympie Musical Union and, of course GTA.
She played Catherine Below-Parr in the 1996 GTA production of Henry, the evil but loveable Morgana in A Knight to Remember, aged 50 years with clever make-up to play the geriatric Claire in Winning and most recently appeared on stage at the Heritage Theatre as one of Gympie's courageous Theatresports participants who braved the floods to successfully complete the improv training workshops with the internationally famous Patti Stiles.
As president of GTA, Donna loves meeting new cast members almost as much as she loves theatre and invites anyone who is interested in the theatre to come join in the fun.
"It's so much fun to dress up, especially as a pirate," she said.
"Just ask Johnny Depp. Live theatre is just so much fun, whether you are on the stage or behind the scenes."
