Dolphin ‘green tape' blasted

KATTER'S Australian Party Queensland leader Rob Katter has quoted The Gympie Times in an attack on what he called "a flawed view of the environment" in some administrative and political circles.

Mr Katter referred to an article from last December on QPWS attempts over several years to ban dolphin feeding at Tin Can Bay.

"Tourist operators cannot make best use of the environment when ridiculous laws prevent visitors from accessing the natural beauty and features Queensland has to offer," he told state parliament this week.

"Families cannot make best use of the environment when green tape actually prevents the construction of homes."

He said this problem particularly affected Aboriginal Australians, specifically on Cape York, where tree protection policies had prevented home building.
