Council freezes dog fees

GYMPIE Regional Council has frozen its dog registration fees for the next 12 months.

The fees were frozen to encourage responsible pet ownership, Cr Rae Gate said.

"Dogs that are microchipped and desexed will incur no fee to be registered," she said.

The registration period was also changed. Previously dog registration ran for the financial year, but will now be from November 1 until October 31.

"It is state law that all dogs in Queensland are microchipped and registered and I encourage residents to utilise our discounted microchipping program (which began on Easter Saturday).

The microchipping program will be conducted:

  1-4pm, Saturday, April 11, Goomeri Park, Corner Munro & Moore Sts;

  10am-1pm, Saturday, April 18, Imbil Showgrounds, Edward St.
