Dog bashed and hung from fence in horror incident

POLICE are investigating the death of a beloved family pet in the Lockyer Valley.

Gatton woman Kelly Morrow took to social media to warn pet owners after she found her dog Rocko hanging from her fence.

Ms Morrow said she was away from her home for about three hours on Friday and when she went to feed Rocko, affectionately known as Boof, she found his body hanging from the fence.

"Please keep your dogs and animals inside when you go out," she posted.

Ms Morrow told The Chronicle Boof had been part of her family for more than four years, and his grisly death has devastated her children.

She believed a star picket driver was used to bash the four-year-old male staffy, and his body hung on the picket by his collar.

Police confirmed they had received a report and were investigating, but did not disclose any further details.

Ms Morrow said Boof's body was taken by authorities.

She has gone public with an appeal to find the people responsible for his death, and has called for anyone with information to phone police.
