Dodgy. Deadly. Illegal: Cosmetic drugs arriving from Asia
DODGY, deadly and illegal medications from Asia have been seized in major raids of cosmetic clinics in Sydney as the government declares war on the industry.
Large amounts of Botox, fillers, vitamins - even human placenta that is injected into unwitting women - as well as antibiotics and anaesthetic used in cosmetic procedures were seized.
The products were mostly imported from China and South Korea.
Authorities also seized surgical equipment suspected of being unhygienic, and potentially deadly products with illegal packaging that failed to warn of the risks.
A horrified Health Minister Brad Hazzard said some of the clinics are "beautiful, well-decorated salons with evil behind the doors".
