Disgraced former Queensland Labor leader dies

CONVICTED paedophile and former Queensland Labor leader Keith Wright has died in Vietnam.

In 1983, he came close to toppling Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen and becoming premier.

A decade later, Wright was jailed for eight years for indecent dealing and child rape.

In 2009, after his release from jail, he broke a 16-year silence to publicly apologise for his actions.

"Yes, I really blew it, man. I was so stupid. And I profoundly regret it all. I am so sorry," the Courier-Mail reported.
