A TOOWOOMBA towing company has come under fire for posting graphic photographs of vehicles involved in fatal crashes.

1300Towing posted the photos on its Facebook page with the title "A picture is worth a thousand words. Stay safe".

The cars in the photos are extensively damaged and at least one contains what appears to be blood on the driver's side door.

1300Towing says: "It is chilling, they were all fatalities".

Followers of the Facebook page were not impressed, slamming the company for being insensitive and overtly graphic.

"Hope Facebook blocks you for this. How wrong," Sharon Lawrence said.

"What if one of your family members or a friend died in an accident and someone put photos of it (online)"

"Why would you put photos of cars in which people have passed away?" Kym Lawrence asks.

" What if one of the family members of one off the people involved sees these? Not cool hey."

Should the fatal crash photos be taken off Facebook?

But 1300Towing defended the photographs.

"I agree with you - NOT COOL.

"I know this is graphic but if it encourages one person to think about the possible consequences of driving on the road it is worth it.

"Every time you drive or are a passenger in a car think about your responsibility to yourself, your family and other road uses."
