Determined thieves steal same car twice in a week

DETERMINED thieves stole the same car twice in a week, and police need your help to recover it... again.

Toowoomba police report the white Mazda 3 was first stolen on New Year's Day from Heritage Park.

It was found a week later on January 8 when Toowoomba Crime Unit officers found the car locked and secured at  Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre about 1.30pm.

Two men were found walking nearby and questioned by police as part of investigations.

But police did not locate the keys on the men and the vehicle was seized and towed to a holding yard on Brook St.

When the Mazda was being unloaded, police said a white Holden Barina drove to the area.

"Once the Mazda 3 had been unloaded, a man and woman got out of the Holden Barina," police said.

"The woman distracted the tow truck driver by asking for directions while the man entered the Mazda 3 using a key and decamped at speed.

"The woman remained for a short time before driving off in the Holden Barina."

The Mazda has personalised plates reading 93RNM.
