Denis and goliath face-off

KANDANGA'S Denis Hoffmann is not afraid of big bugs after getting up close and personal with this monster recently.

The insect, an imposing goliath stick insect, was spotted by Mr Hoffman on his property hidden in one of his many fruit trees.

Goliath stick insects are common in Brisbane and are the second largest insect in Australia. The honour of the largest goes to acrophylla titan, which is 250mm long but thinner than the goliath.
