Dance set to inject excitement

IT'S GREAT to see the eisteddfod has expanded its competition to include dance this year.

The Gympie and District Eisteddfod is one of the region's greatest traditions. Since I can remember, it has showcased the enormous talent of the region in speech and drama, vocal and instrumental competitions.

Sadly, numbers dropped off a little at Gympie's last eisteddfod - that's why bringing dance into the fold is such a great idea.

The eisteddfod will now host classical ballet, jazz and tap, injecting a lot more competitors and excitement into the week.

Gympie and District Eisteddfod chairwoman Thelma Reisenleiter said the future of the event was now "hail and hardy".

I agree, the eisteddfod looks set to last well into the future. Well done to everyone involved! The Gympie Times can't wait to cover this year's event.
