Dams spill over after dry

BORUMBA Dam and all Sunshine Coast dams were spilling over yesterday.

Some of the coast's dam levels were at low levels in January after months of no rain. Ewen Maddock had its lowest recorded level ever at 57.4% on January 23.

Lake Macdonald's level was also worrying at 64%. Baroon Pocket was at 73% and Borumba was at 90.3%.

But all of that changed on Australia Day as ex-cyclone Oswald poured water across the region.

From January 27, dam levels were 100% full.

The water grids combined dam levels across the south east were at 94.2% this week.
