Curra Country Club given three months to meet conditions
THE Curra Country Club executive committee has been granted a significant extension on the deadline to meet conditions imposed by the Gympie Regional Council earlier this year.
The conditions laid down by the council in March, when the facility looked like being taken over by the council because of ongoing concerns surrounding its operation were:
Access to the facility (as a hirer) will not be restricted to club members only;
The seniors computer kiosk will be relocated downstairs to a publicly accessible area to improve access and meet requirements of funding agreement;
Review of licensed trading hours to be undertaken;
Representation of council at monthly meetings;
Monthly reporting to council - financial, facility hire and facility patronage statistics;
Working agreement with Curra Social Club or other community groups (playgroup) to be negotiated;
A due diligence process be immediately undertaken regarding financial and regulatory matters;
Discussions progress regarding the leasehold area being restricted to about 1ha;
Discussions progress regarding the overall future needs of the site and the community.
While some of these conditions have now been met, and a council representative now attends all management meetings, some changes are still to be implemented and issues sorted out.
The committee now has until September 25, this year, to meet those conditions.
