Crowds to flock to Gympie Show

IT’S People’s Day at the Gympie Show, and thousands of Gympie residents are expected to shout the family to some fun and frivolity and enjoy the carnival atmosphere that’s in full swing today.

Despite many feeling the pinch, the outstanding value of the region’s iconic annual event is attracting good numbers through the gates and today is tipped to be a cracker.

Show Society president Graham Engeman reminded patrons that a car will be given away to one lucky key holder at 6.30pm and there’s still three keys up for grabs.

And don’t forget to put your entry in for the Grand Prize Draw (in front of the fruit and veg pavilion) – drawn tomorrow, with first prize, the $11,500 home entertainment package from Harvey Norman consisting of a 60 inch plasma television, leather lounge suite, massage chair, and laptop. Second prize is a $1000 travel voucher from Travelscene and third prize a $500 fuel voucher from Devery’s service station.

Remember you have to be there to claim your prize or there’ll be a redraw.

Today features tiny tots contest, Fast Ed, Havana Latin Band, the grand parade and official opening at 2pm and much more.
