Counter domestic violence with anti-terror plan

A NATIONAL strategy similar to those used to counter terrorism should be employed to fight domestic violence.

University of Melbourne's Professor Cathy Humphreys said there were many "commonalities" between terrorism and "intimate partner terrorism".

She said if the nation was talking about counter-terrorism, "we should be talking about counter-terrorism in the family home".

Her comments followed a report showing 74% of 1000 Australians surveyed believed family violence was more of a threat than terrorism or "about the same".
