Council coffers superb
THE wealth of the Gympie region, or what the Gympie Regional Council owns, was calculated at $973.4 million at the end of the 2011-12 financial year.
This placed the council in a better financial state than the previous financial year, where the region's wealth was calculated lower, at $958.5 million.
The total value of assets was $1015 million, including land and buildings, roads, water and sewerage infrastructure, and plant and equipment. GRC "wealth" was calculated by subtracting the council's $42 million liabilities, which include amounts owed to employees and suppliers.
