Kart club becomes sun smart

AUSTRALIA has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world and the Cooloola Coast Kart Club is helping to reverse this scary statistic.

Less than two weeks remaining before the Cooloola Junior Gold meet fires up over the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend and the club has installed new shade facilities.

Cooloola Coast Kart Club Kym Coomber was excited at the club’s latest project.

“Shade is very easy to use as an effective strategy from staying out of the direct sun,” she said.

“Hopefully (the shades) will assist in the fight against skin cancer in Australia.”

Skin cancer prevention is simple and worth taking a few moments before sun exposure.

Slip on sun protective clothing, slop on sunscreen, slap on a broad brimmed hat, seek shade when possible and slide on sunglasses.

Prevention is always better than cure.
