Community will miss our legend

GYMPIE'S football community received sad news yesterday, with the passing of local football icon Arthur Tindall.

The former president of Golden City Soccer Club and life member of both Golden City and Football Gympie was known by everyone at the football grounds and was the inspiration behind Football Gympie's Arthur Tindall Development Carnival.

Gympie Miners manager Angela Williams said Mr Tindall, who would be at any local football event along with his wife Pam, had involvement in every aspect of football in Gympie, from coaching to behind the scenes organisation.

She said anyone who had played football in Gympie knew Mr Tindall.

"People who played years ago still remember him," she said.

His legacy will be seen in action on the football fields, as his knowledge of the game has been passed on to countless players.

"He's been at the club forever.

"He will be sorely missed by the whole Gympie football community.

"It is the end of an era.

"On behalf of the whole football community, I send out deepest sympathies to his wife, Pam, and their family," Williams said.
