CLOSE CALL: Bodysurfers brush with sharks at Coast beach

BODYSURFERS and bodyboarders have had a close encounter with two sharks at a Coast beach.

Shark spotting app Dorsal reported the sighting at Point Cartwright, with bodysurfers reporting a close encounter with two, 1.5m white-tip reef sharks which were swimming east about 10m beyond the break.

Two bodyboarders also saw the sharks and the alert was sounded to nearby swimmers with one exiting the water.

Nearby fishermen on the rock wall reported seeing dolphins on the other side of the break wall during the incident, which took place just before 3pm yesterday.
