ClimateSmart leader named

GYMPIE Region small business About Freedom has won state-wide recognition as a ClimateSmart Business Cluster leader.

The Queensland Department of Environment and Resource Management recently awarded About Freedom the role for the Gympie Region.

The department has appointed 10 ClimateSmart business leaders to establish strategic business clusters throughout the state.

Each cluster will involve 20 companies working to implement cost saving eco-efficiency strategies.

About Freedom is aiming to achieve reductions in energy use, water use and waste output of 10 per cent and an increase in recycling by 10 per cent across the cluster over an eight month period.

The company’s sustainability leader Rob Absalom said they were looking forward to working with small and medium size businesses across the Gympie Region.

“The cluster will be focussing on smaller retailers and accommodation providers in our region but all SMEs are encouraged to apply,” he said.

Any business interested in joining the very first Gympie Region Cluster should phone Rob on 1300 907 887 before July 23.
