Christmas sale

WITH Christmas 18 weeks away it may be a good time to start stocking up on everything that goes with the silly season.

Smart shoppers will tell you the best way to shop for the festive season is by doing little bits throughout the year and by doing that you are sure to miss the Christmas crowds.

Independent variety store Two Dollars Plus has started putting out some Christmas decorations and will be selling off stuff at discounted prices to make way for new stock.

Owner Bernice Mills said she bought the store two weeks before Christmas 2008, and the period was chaos.

So far there has been a good response to putting out the Xmas gear early with many people taking advantage on being able to get in before the rush.

Ms Mills said it was a good time to come in, get a bargain and plan ahead for Christmas, by buying a little each week.

“Don't leave it to the last minute, when it will be stressful. It's chaos in here at Christmas time,” she said. She never planned to sell the stock so early, Ms Mills said, it just happened and there has been a good response so far.

The word on the street is mixed with the men thinking about the price of Christmas and how buying up early can help the cost sting less.

On the other hand the women thought it wasn't a good idea to promote Christmas until November.

Either way the choice is yours to buy up now or wait until the end of the year.
