OUTSPOKEN Dawson MP George Christensen doesn't believe the American public has much choice in the coming US election but he does have fears Hillary Clinton will embroil Australia in a war with Russia.

"I pity the Americans because they have two bad choices in front of them," Mr Christensen said.

"People think that Hillary is a liar and they think that Donald's gone over the edge and his commentary and attitudes towards women leave a lot to be desired.

"However, I will say that I don't believe Donald Trump will send us in to war with Russia but I do have fears that Hillary Clinton will."

Mr Christensen's comments come only a week after his good friend, supporter, and former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott defended Donald Trump, saying the Republican nominee's positions were "reasonable enough" and his supporters were "not deplorables" but voters simply seeking change in America

"Put it this way," Mr Christensen said, "I don't advocate for Americans to vote any one way, but I think it will be a very interesting four years for the rest of the free world.

"They (Americans) have got two very forward candidates so they all should be very worried because any which way this election goes I don't know if it is going to be pretty."
