Chemist injured in armed robbery
AN armed man held up the Gympie Chemist Warehouse in Edwin Campion Dve on Friday, assaulting and injuring the pharmacist before fleeing the scene, police said.
Gympie CIB officer-in-charge Detective Sergeant Rebecca Oliver said the alleged robbery occurred about 3.45pm.
“A male person, aged between 25 and 35, attended Chemist Warehouse, armed with what appeared to be a firearm,” she said.
“He was wearing a dark or black hoodie, black long pants, dark sunglasses and was carrying a small black bag.”
The alleged bandit is described as being between 170cm and 180cm tall and of average proportionate build.
“The pharmacist was injured during the robbery and has been treated and since discharged at Gympie Hospital.”
Police conducted a search in nearby bushland between the business estate and the nearby highway.
Investigations into the armed robbery are continuing with police viewing CCTV footage from the chemist shop.
