Man threw rock at car windscreen

HELL hath no fury like a woman scorned, Magistrate Maxine Baldwin told a young man who got caught in the middle of a messy break-up.

Michael Andrew Thomas Palmer, 20, was in Gympie Magistrates Court charged with wilful damage for throwing a rock through the back windscreen of a car on April 1.

“I was hanging out with (car owner's) ex-girlfriend. She wanted to talk to him so we went with her,” he said.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Lisa Manns said Palmer was a passenger in a car that went to Pie Creek, and on the way he had discussed what he was going to do.

On the subject of paying for the damage, Palmer told the court he had already given money to the complainant.

“I gave it to the girl to give to him. It think they're engaged or something now,” he said.

Palmer, of Bethany Lane, Monkland was placed on a good behaviour bond for three months.
