Cats start pre-season training

THE Gympie Cats AFL Club means business following a decision to move its pre-season training forward.

Training for senior and junior players gets underway this afternoon at the Six Mile Ovals.

Club spokesperson Jason Bromilow said the club wanted to get a jump on its competitors before the season officially kicked off.

“We are really going to hit up the fitness this season,” he said.

“We want to start the season in the best shape possible.”

The Cats are eager to atone for a dismal season last year in the third division of the Sunshine Coast competition.

Rounding out the season firmly planted on the bottom of the ladder, it is important for the Gympie club to fight back this season and re-assert itself.

Meanwhile, promising results for the junior ranks of the club, which saw some teams reach the finals, has officials hoping for a repeat performance next season.
