Cats forfeit gifts Noosa easy win

LIMPING their way to the end of the season, the Gympie Cats AFL side didn’t take to the field against Noosa in their Round 12 clash at the weekend.

It’s the second time in recent weeks the Cats have been unable to field a team, instead having to forfeit and hand their opposition an easy win.

The Cats were due to take on Noosa away Saturday morning.

Two rounds remain in the Sunshine Coast Division 3 competition and the minor premiership appears all but sewn up by Nambour and Hinterland.

The side is runaway leader on 40 points, followed by Pomona (28) and Maroochydore/Northshore (24) tied with Bribie Island (24).

The Cats have some serious contemplation to do about the future of the team when the curtain falls on the season in a few weeks’ time.

Gympie AFL president Glenn Warren said the club would look at the off season to recruit and plan for next season.

By far the worst year in recent memory, Cats’ supporters have had little to cheer about.
