Cops praised as machete attack victim released from hospital

A MAN wounded in an alleged machete attack at Casino has been released from hospital.

The man, aged in his 30s, was rushed to hospital injuries to one of his legs early Monday after the attack at a home at Johnston Street, Casino.

Richmond police Inspector Susie Johnston said the attack triggered a short but intensive search which ended only half an hour later with the arrest of a man, also aged in his 30s, in a vehicle at Casino St, Lismore.

Insp Johnston praised the officers involved and said the quick arrest of a suspect in the incident was an example of excellent proactive police work.

"As a result of the information from the scene, Lismore police have successfully managed to apprehend the alleged offender a very short time after the offence," she said.

The man charged appeared in the Lismore Local Court on Monday morning and was refused bail.

Police are continuing with their investigation of the incident.
