Cartoon job corners a Logie gong

WHEN Mickey Mouse is your workmate and regular trips to Disneyland come with the position, it's easy to smile and say you have the best job in the world.

For former Noosa resident Nathan Morgan, that dream is a reality.

After just over three years bringing the best in cartoons and craziness to kids on Saturday Disney on Channel 7, Nathan is up for a prestigious TV Week Logie Award.

He's in a tough field, up against the likes of Carrie Bickmore, Hamish Blake, Dr Harry Cooper and Lisa Wilkinson, but he said he was just happy to be nominated. "It's an honour really," he said.

Nathan grew up in Eumundi and attended Noosa District State High School before heading to Brisbane to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor.

After a few smaller gigs he auditioned for Saturday Disney and landed the role.

It's been a fun ride ever since as he comes alive with his big personality and cheeky smile every weekend.

"We don't just work Saturdays we work every day of the week, organising the stories ourselves, writing our own scripts and presenting," Mr Morgan said.

"It's like being a kid, travelling and having fun as a job."   Mr Morgan and his fellow presenters often travel to Disneyland for segments or even further afield to places like Iceland.

"That's the best place I've been," Mr Morgan said.

"We travelled 36 hours for a seven minute junket in Iceland with the illustrator of Ice Age 2."

Mr Morgan quickly grasped interviewing techniques and has since quizzed celebrities including Steve Carell.

But Mr Morgan said his favourite part of the job by far was watching cartoons.

"We get to watch them all before they go to air, it's part of our job criteria," Mr Morgan said.

"I started off loving acting but now I'm obsessed with presenting, I'd love to have my own talk show one day."
