Boy on life support after cow kick

A FOUR-year-old kicked in the head by a cow near Oakey has arrived at a Brisbane hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The boy was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital by RACQ CareFlight earlier today.

He was put on life support for the flight

It is believed he had walked down to a paddock where his stepfather was milking cows when the accident happened.

CareFlight doctor Jacob Crosdale said the boy was unconscious when the RACQ CareFlight helicopter landed at the scene and he needed to be urgently ventilated. 

“The young boy has a closed head injury and suspected brain bleed," he said.

“He will be assessed by a neuro-surgical team and probably taken straight to theatre."

The boy also has abdominal injuries and was suffering seizures at the scene.
