Two crashes within minutes north of Mackay

UPDATE 4.40PM: EMERGENCY crews responded to two crashes that occurred within 10 minutes north of Mackay.

Paramedics treated two adults and two children after a car went down an embankment and was reportedly suspended in a tree about 2.06pm off Brodies Rd.

The four were taken to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition and a tow truck is on the way to the scene.

Less than 15 minutes later, at 2.19pm, a motorbike crashed on Calen Mount Charlton Rd.

The rider received arm and facial injuries and has been taken to hospital.

EARLIER: PARAMEDICS are en route to a single-vehicle crash after a car reportedly went over an embankment north of Mackay and is suspended in a tree.

It is understood there are children in the vehicle and at least one person needed medical attention in the incident at Mount Charlton.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the crash occurred just after 2pm after the car missed the bend at Brodies Rd, near Ballantyne's Strawberry Farm.

The incident prompted a multi-crew response including police, paramedics and firefighters heading to the crash site.

It is understood the vehicle is off the road and the caller is listening for sirens as there is poor phone reception in the area.
