Four people hospitalised after highway crash

UPDATE 3PM A women and three children were taken to hospital following a two vehicle crash on the Bunya Hwy this morning.

Police allege that at about 9am a Holden Commodore containing two small children and driven by a 25-year-old Kingaroy women side-swiped an oncoming Mitsubishi Magna driven by a 20-year-old Wondai women.

It is alleged the Commodore was attempting to overtake the at the time.

As a result the Magna has left road and crashed into and embankment.

The Commodore also left the road about 100m north of the Magna.

The 25-year-old women was airlifted to Brisbane with extensive leg injuries Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said.

A sample of her blood was taken and police are investigating the cause of the incident.

The three children were taken to hospital with various injuries.

The youngest was 11-months-old and while uninjured he was taken to hospital as a precaution.

UPDATE 10AM: One child has been taken to hospital after two cars were involved in crash on the Bunya Hwy shortly after 9am this morning.

An 11-month-old baby and his mother were also treated at the scene.

Kristin Marsh was driving south along the road at the time and she said she didn't know if an oncoming car overtaking another vehicle had enough space to get back into their lane.

Ms Marsh said she attempted to move to the shoulder of the road.

She lost control and crashed into a tree.

A second car crashed 100m north of where Ms Marsh crashed.

A child passenger in the second car was taken to hospital.

 

EARLIER: A car has crashed into a tree on the Bunya Hwy at Crawford this morning.

One Queensland Fire and Emergency crew is on the scene and Queensland Ambulance Service is treating two patients.

QAS received the call at 9am to Bunya hwy and Crawford Rd, Crawford for a possible two vehicle crash.
