Candidate prepares for election

SHANE Jocumsen is the latest candidate to put his hand up for the next Gympie Regional Council election.

"I intend to stand as councillor for Division 3 in the forthcoming council elections," Mr Jocumsen said.

"I believe in my term as a Division 3 councillor Cooloola Shire Council, 2004-08, I gave the constituents strong representation. Serious concerns currently flagging council and affecting residents are rising rates, poor road conditions and inadequate waste management facilities. I will work for the new Division 3 to address these matters and believe council needs to be accountable and open.

"Currently, I am actively involved in the community on committees and in organisations including the Gympie Show Society, Gympie Salvation Army, Local Ambulance Committee, Gympie Historical Mining Museum and Gympie Poultry Club. Having grown up and continuing to live in the Gympie district, I have a comprehensive understanding of the demographics and issues facing the Gympie region.

"If you like to see committed and strong representation in council, then I would like to be your elected representative."
