Cancer cuppa this month

WITH almost every family in Australia touched in some ways by cancer, the businesses at Gympie's Goldfields Plaza are asking all of us to help them raise money for cancer research, cancer control programs and specialised medical training.

“The retailers are all getting behind us,” said Angus and Coote manager Helen Hall, who is organising Australia's Biggest Morning Tea later this month.

She was backed yesterday by business people including Suncorp Metway manager Bridget Connelly and Donut Shop owner Tracey Roach.

The big cancer fundraiser will be held on May 28, with prizes and raffles for participants, who will each pay $5 to be a part of the action.

Ms Hall said the Cancer Council of Queensland was behind the event.
