Cake decorators celebrate 25 years

A QUARTER of a century of creating delectable works of art were celebrated by members of the Gympie Branch of the Queensland Cake Decorators Association at Chatz Cafe last week.

President Anne Long welcomed members to their birthday celebration which they shared with state president Dale Pidgeon, who presented 25-year badges to three members present, and state vice-president Dawn Hepplewhite, state secretary Robyn Scott and proxy to state meetings for Gympie branch Ethaveen Kruger.

State president Dale congratulated the 25-year members and commended the branch on its successful years of sharing their wonderful edible art. There have been many lasting friendships made with members from Queensland and Australia-wide and with World Wide Cake Decorators through attending state, national and international seminars.

Gympie members have represented the branch at state, national and international events with competition items and demonstrating and continue to enter in the Gympie show and surrounding shows. These works of art always create a talking point and surprise at what is possible with sugar art.

Gympie members are now completing mini cakes for all Meals on Wheels recipients and the branch will hold beginner and flower making classes during the year.

Demonstrations are held at monthly meetings in the Lutheran Church Hall on the fourth Saturday of each month and will resume for 2011 in January.

New members are always very welcome. President Anne can be contacted on 5483 4796 or secretary Joy on 5483 5159 for more information.
