Byron Bay woman charged with murder, assault in Bali
BYRON Bay woman Sara Connor has reportedly been charged with murder and assault of a police officer on Kuta Beach in Bali in August this year.
The 45 year-old mother of two has been remanded in custody in an Indonesian jail since the incident occurred.
In August Connor's lawyer Erwin Siregar told the ABC his Australian client insisted she was not guilty of killing the local policeman, named Wayan Sudarsa.
Sudarsa's body was found with 42 wounds on it, including on his head and neck.
However Connor reportedly told her lawyer she was merely trying to separate the victim from her boyfriend.
"She said to me after she make a little bit of a reconstruction there, only between us, 'I want to protect the victim'," Mr Siregar said.
"I want to separate between David Taylor and the victim and in this case I just want to protect the victim and so I am not guilty'.
