Buskers ready for a glorious return to Mary St

BUSKERS should be able to perform at a number of sites throughout Mary St after today, when Gympie Regional Council votes on a staff report recommending that it approve the return of multiple busking and entertainment spots in Gympie's main street.

Buskers were shut down last year after a complaint from a business owner, but their music enhances the cultural atmosphere of the street and can help attract shoppers; something the council now recognises.

The report recommends buskers be allowed to do their thing at the top end of Mary St near Rivers, the bottom end near Memorial Lane and Goodyear Jewellers and, as always, at the Gold City Centre Stage. Business owners at those sites were consulted and had no objections.
