Bunnings to open in coming months, hiring 180 staff

WORK on the $43 million Bunnings Warehouse development in North Toowoomba is progressing as planned.

Bunnings general manager property Andrew Marks said the new store was expected to open in late 2017 and would create more than 100 jobs.

"The new Bunnings Warehouse Toowoomba is expected to create approximately 180 new team member jobs once open," Mr Marks said.

"Recruitment for new team members will commence in the coming months."

Mr Marks said Bunnings was looking forward to providing the local community with the latest home improvement and outdoor living products backed by the best local service.

On top of the 180 team member jobs, the construction of the warehouse was expected to create about 250 jobs throughout the construction, which started in late 2016.

The new warehouse is located on the corner of Ruthven and Bridge Sts and is the second Bunnings for Toowoomba, the other being on Anzac Ave at Harristown.

Once completed, the new warehouse will have a total area of more than 17,000sqm.

It will include the main store, indoor timber trade sales area, building materials and landscape supplies yard and outdoor nursery.

The development will also include an indoor playground, cafe and parking for more than 370 cars on the site of the former Toowoomba foundry.
