Bundy to throw farewell parade for QFRS

FIREFIGHTERS will be farewelled from Bundaberg on Friday after serving in the region to help the flood-ravaged city find its feet.

More than 700 Queensland Fire and Rescue workers were deployed to the area, with the final 40 to be congratulated by Community Safety Minister Jack Dempsey as they depart.

The 15 QFRS vehicles will also begin their journey home.

A farewell parade through Bundaberg's streets will be held, as QFRS temporary facilities begin to be dismantled.

Recovery efforts for the region, devastated by flooding generated by ex-tropical cyclone Oswald, will now be handled locally.
