Bullseye for Gympie's Tara

TARA Rowe was on target at the under-25 Australian Darts Championships in Gosford last week, returning home with a gold and silver medal.

The local sharp-shooter became the first player from Gympie to make the state team after a strong performance at the Queensland trials in Maryborough in August, qualifying for her first ever national titles.

Playing every day from November 8-16, Rowe helped the Queensland side to victory in the Four's Cup, and silver in the team's competition, while also reaching the quarter-final stage in singles.

"It was an awesome experience, and very different to playing in the local competition," Rowe said.

"Obviously, it was a lot more competitive so you really had to be on your game, but I made sure I enjoyed it at the same time.

"They didn't name an Australian team from the competition, but I'm pretty confident I would've been in with a shot."

The 23-year-old will enjoy a break over Christmas before returning to competition in the New Year.
